More definition is on every curly’s wish list. Let us help with 3 easy ways of adding definition on your next wash day. Whether you have wavy, curly, coily or afro hair, these tips work across all curl types and every kind of textured hair - from loose waves to tight coils.

Finger Rolling

Finger rolling helps to enhance your natural curly hair’s natural definition with maximum impact.

After applying your Hydrating Curl Creme to soaking wet hair, smooth a small section of hair and see what direction the curl is going.

Use your index finger to roll the curl in that direction, locking the hair in place with your thumb. Go with your curls, not against them!

Roll your hair to the top, then pinch the hair strand and gently unravel. Do this all around your head or just on a few face-framing pieces, then apply some gel to add hold.

Denman Brush Twists

The Denman Brush is essential in the curly hair toolkit. It can help to create juicy and defined curls that last.

After applying your Hydrating Curl Creme, spin the brush upside down, and wrap a small strand of hair at the base of the brush nearest the handle.

Press the hair down, and gently rotate up, wrapping the hair around the handle. Pinch the hair at the top and unravel.

You’ll be stunned by the gorgeous curls that are created! Again, smooth over some gel to keep the curls in place. This method works beautifully across different kinds of curly hair - from wavy hair to coily hair - helping to bring out definition in waves, spirals, and coils. It’s one of the easiest ways to style textured hair and natural hair for lasting results.

Scrunching

One of the easiest and simple ways to add definition to curly hair is by scrunching.

For reduced frizz, try using our microfibre towel while scrunching to create smooth, defined curls. It’s a total game changer!

Scrunching with the microfibre towel to dry your curls enhances your natural curl pattern and adds bounce. Even better, it drastically reduces drying time - which makes it a great option for busy mornings with textured hair, whether you have wavy, coily, afro or natural hair.

Bonus Tip!

For enhanced definition that lasts, try diffusing your curly hair instead of air-drying. Diffusing encourages your natural curls to spring up, and the diffuser bowl disperses heat more evenly than traditional blow-drying to limit any heat damage.

For tips on diffusing, check out our Frizz-Free Diffusing tutorial - a must for all curl types. Diffusing works beautifully on wavy hair, coily hair, afro hair, natural hair, and textured hair to keep definition lasting longer.
